PPIR Open Track / Autocross Tech and Orientation
Thursday we kick off our on-track activities for those participating in the open track and autocross.
Open Track
Ever wanted to see what your Mustang could do without the speed limits of public roads? Here’s your chance! Following a mandatory tech inspection, you’ll have the opportunity to drive your Mustang at speed on the legendary Pikes Peak International Raceway, including the ROVAL.
This is NOT a racing event, your laps will not be timed and you will not be “racing” against other vehicles. There are strict rules for passing in an effort to minimize any on track trouble and maximize safety for those who choose to participate.
Participants can choose to take part in the morning or afternoon session (or both!)
Don’t want to go fast but want to check out the track? There will be complimentary parade laps from noon – 1pm and 4-5pm for all RMMR registered participants. No need to register, just show up.
Learn more about the Open Track Day here.
Autocross Early Tech
Autocross Early Tech Session is required and will occur during the afternoon Open Track sessions from 12pm – 4pm at the PPIR infield parking lot. An autocross orientation meeting will take place at the Hotel Elegante 7pm – 8pm.
Fri. June 17th
Autocross / Friday Night Social
Autocross
For those interested in the agility and handling of their Mustang, we recommend the RMMR autocross. This timed event is sure to test the handling of your Mustang and your skills as a driver. The goal is to make it through a course of traffic cones as fast as possible without hitting any.
This event takes place in a large open parking lot outside PPIR, and away from barricades and hazards. Cars go one at a time. Autocross is one of the safest and easiest ways to dip your toe into racing your car.
NOTE: To keep the cost of participation low, our autocross will be a “run/work” event, meaning you’ll need to help run the event for the session you’re not racing in. Roles include replacing cones, managing corners, recording timing, and several others. Please indicate your preferred role on the registration form and we will do our best to accommodate.
Learn more about the autocross including classes and requirements here.
Friday Night Social
The Friday Night social will include a light meal with beer, wine, dessert and beverages starting at 6pm – 8:30pm at the Hotel Elegante. Everyone must have purchased a ticket to participate. Your tickets will be found in your registration packet.
Sat. June 18th
Show n’ Shine Car Show & Awards Dinner
Show n’ Shine
The crowning event of RMMR is the Saturday Show n’ Shine, located on the grass at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs. With several hundred participants, this is one of the largest Mustang-focused shows you’ll find in the Rocky Mountain region!
The Show n’ Shine is NOT a concours judged competition, but does offer judging in a variety of Mustang-specific classes. Staging will begin at 7 am with a 10:00 am start and will end promptly at 3:00 pm.
Winners in each of the Show n’ Shine classes will be selected by Judging Teams (residents of the Colorado Springs community) using the following non-concours criteria: Cleanliness, Craftsmanship and Quality.
Learn more about the Show n’ Shine here.
Awards Dinner
RMMR concludes with an Awards Dinner celebration, including a plated meal and beverages for those who wish to participate. Show n’ Shine Awards and Show pictures for purchase will be available starting at 6 pm outside the Hotel Elegante Ball Room. The Awards Dinner will be held at the Hotel Elegante from 6:30 – 9:30 pm.
Specialty Awards presentation will begin promptly at 7:30 pm and is FREE and OPEN to all participants. All participating clubs are encouraged to bring their club banners (drop off in the Registration Room) as they will be displayed at this time.
